Day 4: #rogertorypetersoninstitute The Main building at the Roger Tory Peterson Institute is spectacular, made with beautiful stone and massive timber, but it wasn’t the materials or the Adirondack feel that drew me to paint this image. I was drawn to what has no form but is in perpetual motion... shadows . In a sense this building is constantly changing with each day on the calendar. The shadows that accentuate its form and texture, change ever so slightly, playing and laying across the various planes and surfaces. The architect that designed this building, Robert A. M Stern gave thought to shadows and the change of the season when he chose the form and materials. We all are a witness to this yearly graceful dance.

Pull up a chair, put up your feet and listen to a few stories while the paint dries.
