Day 8: #rogertorypetersoninstitute We’ve been here long enough and walked the trails so often, that I’ve begun to give names to areas. Today we set up in “Squirrel Alley”, by a sweet little basket bird house, that has seen many hatchlings come and go. If it were a new birdhouse, I probably wouldn’t have even noticed it, but the weathering gives it a loved character and the grasses and twigs sticking out of it gives it a history.
While I was painting, a sassy nuthatch stopped to yell at me from a neighboring twig and the red and gray squirrels made their noisy appearance. I had secured Cutter to a nearby tree, because even a good dog loves a rousing squirrel chase from time to time.
