Day 2: Horse Tailer

3/8/2020

Day 2: Today was a drizzly, gray day, quite a contrast from yesterday. I loaded up my ziplock bag of supplies, including a couple paper towels (what a luxury) and pulled my trusty Subaru out of the driveway with my faithful studio assistant Cutter, in the back. I knew what type of subject I was looking for, but ended up driving miles and miles in search of it. I never did find that subject, but ended up painting something totally different.

The old horse trailer was close to the edge of the road and only a half mile from my house (after all that driving). What drew me to it was how it echoed the color of today’s sky. It wasn’t dependent on shadows to anchor it to its surroundings. The dark puddle of water in front served that purpose nicely.

When I was a kid I loved playing in puddles when it rained. Today I once again had fun playing in the puddles. It was a good day.

Pull up a chair, put up your feet and listen to a few stories while the paint dries.
