Day 8: There is no better smell than bacon frying in a cast iron pan, over a campfire, on a cool morning. I grew up eating many of my favorite meals outside. My Dad would make a fire in the homemade wood burning grill and we would eat steak, hotdogs or mountain pies as the sky put on a show of changing colors. If we weren’t home, the tailgate of our old Rambler served as the table, while we dined on sandwiches and root beer.

The location of today’s painting is Scoby Dam Park, in Springville, NY. It’s a sweet little park with picnic tables waiting for warmer weather, when families will once again gather around, tell stories and watch the sky change colors.
