The Forest Sanctuary

Day 9: #rogertorypetersoninstitute I’ve always loved trails that weave through heavily wooded areas, where the canopy is so dense that only flickerig light reaches the pine needle carpeted ground. I was walking the trails at the Roger Tory Peterson Institute and ran across this simple little plank bridge crossing a tiny meandering brook.
I love the feeling of protection that this type of magical forest provides; protection from the elements and from man-made intrusions, to name a few. In a sense, it is like my own personal sanctuary. When the forest provides a glimpse of an opening meadow, it is beautiful, but I find myself stopping, not wanting to leave the solitude of my sanctuary.
